Remote Access

What is remote access?

The ability to log onto a network from a distant location. Generally, this implies a computer, a modem, and some remote access software to connect to the network. Whereas remote control refers to taking control of another computer, remote access means that the remote computer actually becomes a full-fledged host on the network. The remote access software dials in directly to the network server. The only difference between a remote host and workstations connected directly to the network is slower data transfer speeds.

For Individuals - Control computers in your home network, access your home computer from office or work on your office computer from home, access your office or home computer while traveling. Invite someone to your PC to fix it remotely.

And Businesses - Your main office can access branch office desktops, or your branch office can access main office server. Your employees can access email, files, programs and network resources from home or the road. System administrators can remotely access and manage multiple PCs from anywhere. Your sales force can access applications and documents and continue to work while on the road.

Why remote access?

Having remote access to your business is the most effective way for eits to keep an eye on your network from maintaining your PC to installing software on server's, and beyond. This way we can act promptly if there is any cause to do so, as well as help users in problems that may occur on there workstation or PC.

We are able to fix any software related issues in real time. Where as if sending out an engineer would take time. Which in this day and age time is money. Thus lowering your overall costs

Remote access is the fasted, and the most effective means possible in accessing a network in order to run diagnostic, and fault finding tests, or even just help the end-users in their dilemmas

There may also be remote users that work from home or who are geographically apart, who will also require this to log into their network. They may want to access there database at headquarters, but they are in another country. Again here remote access is the answer to this.

Making Remote Access Secure

If you are considering allowing connections to your network and important data from the Internet, you may be concerned about security. You will want to be quite sure that only authorised users are using the connection, and that data transfers are secure.

eits can help you set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for all your remote access users. We will install a firewall on your local network and configure it to recognise all your authorised remote users. Every laptop will have secure remote access software installed.

Your remote users can then connect to the Internet at local rates from anywhere in the UK or indeed worldwide, and create a secure Virtual Private Network connection to the local network at your offices.

Our remote access solutions are popular with staff, who get greater flexibility and local call rate access, with management, because data is kept secure, and with local network administrators because secure remote access is safe and easily scaleable.
